Description
Artist: Aris IoannouAris loannou was born in 1940 at Laimos village of the Prespa prefecture in Florina (NW Greece). Both his parents were refugees from the Black Sea. He graduated from Florina’s High School in 1960 while from 1963 to 1967 he worked as a coal miner in West Germany. Early in the year 1967 he boarded a tanker for eight months until he returned to his birthplace Lai mos where he spread his roots.
The materials used in his paintings are mainly oil and enamel paint while the techniques he was most interested in were brush, spatula, flood and finger techniques. These were used on paper, cloth, wood, stones and transparencies.
